Detachable Control Wheel: This wheel slots into the bottom air vent opening into the Elevator, allowing you to adjust the height of the Charcoal Basket within the Kamado Grill. It’s simple to remove by pulling it out ensuring that the air vent retains full functionality.

1 Remove the fire box and clean out the bottom of the Kamado. Finish up with a vacuum cleaner, Get all the dust out. Do not use water.
2 Place the Charco Control Elevator in the center of the Kamado.
3 Insert the Hand Wheel through the air vent and rotate the Elevator clock wise until the Hand Wheel touches the edge of the air vent.
4 If you continue to use the Fire Box you may choose to bond in the Elevator Base Plate, or simply place the Fire Box on top of the Base Plate and the weight of the Fire Box will hold the Elevator in Place. In that case continue with 9 If you choose to bond the Elevator in place, mark the position of the Base Plate with a pencel.
5 Remove the Hand Wheel of the Elevator
6 Apply the included heat resistant Silicone to the Base Plate as shown in the picture below.
7 Place the Elevator back on the bottom of the Kamado, matching the pencel markings. Insert the Hand Wheel through the air vent and gently push the Elevator down and turn it until the Hand Wheel almost touches the left side of the air vent opening.
8 Let the silicone dry for 8 hours
9 Place the Fire Box back in the Kamado and place the Charcoal Basket on top of the Elevator. You’re now ready to go.
10 If you have chosen the large Charcoal basket and not put the Fire Box back, place the Charcoal Basket on top of the Elevator and you’re ready to go.
